What was the inspiration for your geocaching name?

I just wanted something that identified who I was and where I’m from. Diane just went with her nickname since she is only 4’-11” Squirt works for her.

Why did you decide to try geocaching?

I had an old Eagle Explorer GPSR that I use to map our hunting areas. I read an article somewhere about it and thought I’d give it a try.

What cache were you after?

Palomino Cache (GC7E2)

What did you expect to find?

I had no clue what to expect but I did not expect all the mud and trash 😉

Everyone has a Geocaching “big fish” story about the hunt that was much more than you expected at the start. What is yours?

It would have to be GC3630 Hawksbill Crag in Arkansas. Well worth the hike to a very scenic overlook out on a rock overhang. We ran into a group of hikers from the LSU Vet. school that were there for the summer.

What is your Geocaching EDC (every day carry)?

Not sure about the question. My EDC knife is an Emerson/Kershaw hybrid my son in law gave me. The other EDC is a Smith & Wesson M&P45c compact semi-automatic.

As for caching EDC I have (3) boxes of assorted items in the back seat 24-7.

What gear do you have to have with you?

Nothing I “have to have” except the GPSR or iPhone and a red pen. (Don’t know why I like to sign the log in red)

What is the most memorable thing you’ve seen or found while caching?

I guess the scenery around Monument Rocks GC21VQQ in west Kansas was one of the more memorable.

What Cache is on your Bucket List?

Don’t have a particular cache.  Just want to find a cache in the last 6 north east states we have not gotten yet: Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Washington & Wyoming.

Any other Hobbies?

Golf but not near as often as I used to. Hunting and chasing Squirt.

Anything else you would like to say?

I started some 16 years ago and it took a few years before Squirt started to get “into it”. We have met a ton of fine people in our travels. I would like to see the newer cachers show a little more patience. And not be so quick to report a cache missing or need archiving just because they couldn’t find it.

That is about it!
